Operating Procedures for Bohua Eyewash Stations
1. Purpose
Eyewash stations are essential in environments with potential hazards, such as petroleum, chemical, coal chemical, solar energy, semiconductor, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries. Understanding the operating procedures of eyewash stations is crucial for all personnel, ensuring the station is always ready for use and can meet emergency requirements promptly.
2. Usage Instructions
Eyewash stations are emergency devices with two primary functions: drenching and eyewash.
- For eye injuries: Use the eyewash function. Push the hand paddle, and within one second, the eyewash heads will release a gentle, aerated water stream (with both streams converging at the bridge of the nose) to quickly flush toxic or harmful substances from the eyes and face.
- For bodily injuries: Use the drench function. Pull down the drench lever, and within one second, water will flow to rapidly rinse off hazardous substances such as acids, alkalis, and salts from the affected person’s body. After use, push the lever back up to reset and close the valve.
3. Installation Environment and Requirements
1. Proximity to Hazard Zones: Install the eyewash station near hazardous work areas, generally within 10 to 15 meters, and ensure it’s connected to potable or purified water with a pressure of 0.25-0.4 MPa.
2. Clear Signage: The installation area should be clearly marked with guidance signs to maintain an unobstructed emergency route.
3. Emergency Use Only: The eyewash station is for emergency use; avoid routine use whenever possible.
4. Operation Duration: The drench function should last for a minimum of 5 to 10 minutes, while eye and face flushing should last at least 15 minutes.
Though not a frequently used product, mastering the operation of an eyewash station is essential, and the unit should undergo regular maintenance. Additionally, staff should be trained periodically on proper usage. For inquiries, contact the eyewash station hotline at 021-5169 3115.
